Britons may just about be able to swallow the rights of Revenue and Customs, which in many areas exceed those of the police, but the attitude that 'you will pay to have access to Eastenders' just beggars belief. My friends who said they didn't watch TV were treated with enormous suspicion. One point people may be able to clarify though. How DO you prove you DON'T have a TV? It's impossible to prove a negative of course ... do they assume you are hiding it! And what's the legal position on refusing entry to the TV Licence Authority officials? Indeed.
